Witching Hour by Newcalibre Witching Hour by Newcalibre
It is hard to believe that it has been one year, since I completed Witchcraft and created this account. In some ways, time has flown by very quickly. In other ways, I've been through so much, that it feels like it has been a lifetime.

This is an anniversary painting of my warlock, Venella Bonnet, also known by her moniker 'the Vulture'. I painted it as a sort of milestone, or landmark of progression.

In the past year, I have progressed artistically, out of sheer persistence and stubbornness. It has been one gruelling uphill battle, and it is far from over, as I still have so much I need to learn, and so much I need to improve upon. However, it is healthy to stop beating yourself up, and take a step back every once in a while, to acknowledge how far you have come.

It is at this point in time that I take a moment to reflect upon what I have learnt and experienced, to celebrate what I have gained. It is also a good time to reassess my plans, and set new goals. I still have a mammoth journey ahead of me, with a lot of work I need to put in, so that I may one day paint like the artists that I admire.

As I mull over the year in passing, I feel exhausted. But while I am tired, my thirst to improve has not waned, and I look forward to overcoming the obstacles and challenges another year will throw at me.

For once in my life, I feel ready.

FANTASTIC. Normally i only skim pencil/shaded work but this is really outstanding, from the detail, to the shading, everything.
Your works mind blowing; it's practically photo quality and you do it with a fucking pencil. What do you ask for commissions?

I like this very much. Her face is just lovely! I'm also super keen on her hair! but everything is wonderfully done. The coloring (I guess I should say shading since it's more monochrome) is beautiful. So smooth and clean! She looks very dangerous and elegant.
Thankyou very much :)
Amazing detail. She looks badass.

Woah. Something about the pose, color, and the way the scythe works in to the composition is simply spectacular.
I'm glad you like it!
